Single propeller or TRP?
YAMAHA HYDRA DRIVE engines are available with the single-propeller HYDRA DRIVE unit or the remarkable TRP version, with twin counter-rotating propellers; the TRP version is standard on our most powerful engine, the ME 432. The unique TRP version offers the ultimate in performance, with smooth, torque-free control and arrow-straight steering for both single and twin-engine installation, adding even easier handling and more sheer pleasure to the driving experience. The TRP can be specified for any HYDRA DRIVE installation and owners of twin installations will also enjoy and appreciate the advantage of the single-button trim, which is a special feature of the YAMAHA dual remote control unit.

Closed-circuit cooling system
The stable engine temperature required for smooth, reliable running is achieved by filling the system with a special coolant that also protects the engine during winter periods as well as extending its life.

Engine-mounted pump and filter
The seawater pump and intake water filter, with its retractable stainless steel insert for easy checking and servicing, are both engine-mounted. A seawater flow sensor will detect any blockage of the cooling water intake or a failure of the seawater pump.

Fuel supply system - vital for reliability
A constant and consistent level of fuel pressure is supplied by the rotary injection pump; a combined engine-mounted fuel filter and water separator ensures clean fuel under all conditions. The fuel filter is also fitted with a special sensor to detect any water contamination and a dashboard lamp warns the operator.

Stainless steel propellers
Especially designed and tuned to the performance characteristics of the advanced YAMAHA HYDRA DRIVES, the highest quality stainless steel propellers are fitted as standard. They provide superb acceleration and high top-end speeds with excellent fuel economy.

Silky-smooth action; quiet, easy movements between gears; fast response and instant control: that's a Yamaha remote. Now imagine that level of control teamed up with the uniquely smooth-shifting HYDRA drive unit. The result is a revelation that's sure to give you more confidence in your boat handling, however experienced you are, making it even more relaxing and enjoyable. An engine cut-out switch with security lanyard is also available as an option for all HYDRA DRIVE units. Remote controls for the HYDRA DRIVES are fitted with an integral Power Trim and Tilt button for precise adjustment, with -6 to +15 degrees of trim available, ensuring optimum hull angle and performance at all times and owners of twin-engine installations will really appreciate the added advantage of single-button trimming, which is a special feature of the Yamaha dual remote control unit.

Stylish, easy-to-read instruments
These instruments add to the everyday pleasure of using YAMAHA HYDRA DRIVES because a stylish package, offering full engine information and monitoring, is supplied as standard. This includes a tachometer (with integral running hours indicator) as well as meters for oil pressure, cooling water temperature and battery voltage, and a trim position indicator. Other matching instrument options are available, including a speedometer (for connection to the standard built-in speedometer pick-up in the drive unit) and meters showing fuel level and turbo boost pressure. A special package is available for flybridge boats, including a tachometer and a matching panel with Engine Start/Stop buttons. When full repeat instrumentation is required at the second helm position, an additional warning lamp panel and instrument cluster can also be added.
