The world’s first middleweight ATV with power steering, the Grizzly 450 EPS, is set to make its UK debut at this year’s Royal Welsh Show. The all new Grizzly 450 model has undergone a major update for next season, making it even more versatile, durable and agile while the announcement that there will now be two versions available – one with Yamaha’s patented Electric Power Steering (EPS) system - adds even more choice to the Yamaha Utility ATV range.
It was barely one month ago when Yamaha launched a standard non-EPS version of the acclaimed Grizzly 550 at the Royal Highland Show and the announcement of the new Grizzly 450 in both standard and EPS versions ensures Yamaha has an ATV model to cover every type of use and terrain, whether choosing the non-EPS version to work on flatter land for general duties or the EPS model for more extreme use or heavy towing work.
Yamaha were the first company to introduce power steering to a production ATV and their patented, speed sensitive EPS system is well appreciated by riders as it reduces handlebar kick back from ruts and bumps, while at the same time reducing rider fatigue which is especially useful if you are working all day on your ATV. The new Grizzly 450 EPS uses the same mechanical technology as its heavyweight brothers, but the EPS has been reprogrammed to suit the different characteristics of the lighter 450 model.
The introduction of EPS on the Grizzly 450 necessitated a redesign of the chassis and Yamaha engineers took the opportunity to develop a new stronger, yet lighter frame for the new model. At the same time a new rear gear case and new sealed wet multi-plate rear brake were developed, with the casing adding to the rigidity of the rear section of the frame.
And the development of this popular all-round, middleweight didn’t stop there with new steering column and suspension parts as well as enhancements to the generator, seat, bodywork and graphics along with the fitting of a new type of tyre.
The new Grizzly 450 EPS model will make its official debut at this year’s Royal Welsh Show on the Yamaha stand number E420 where the new 450 EPS model will take pride of place on the stand.
With crowd numbers exceeding 220,000 in recent years and a strong demand for ATV machines from Welsh farmers the introduction of this new model is expected to be well received as is the exceptional choice of models now available from Europe’s number one, best selling, Utility ATV manufacturer.
The new Grizzly 450 EPS and Grizzly 450 IRS models will be available from authorised Yamaha ATV
dealer’s showrooms across the UK in the autumn when prices will be announced.
