Q1: How can I get a replacement Owner’s Manual for my Yamaha? |

Owner's manuals for current Yamaha models can normally be ordered through a Yamaha dealer (please remember to have details of your machine’s frame number available so that they may be able to identify the correct manual). Alternatively they can br downloaded from the website.

Q2: Where is my Yamaha motorcycle’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) located? |

On Yamaha motorcycles it is located on the right-hand side of the frame steering stem. On scooters it may be located under a removable cover or stamped on a metal plate fixed to a frame member. Please refer to your Owner's Manual for exact location. |

All road based Yamaha scooters and motorcycles produced since 1970 were designed to operate on regular unleaded petrol. |

Q5: Do I need a Certificate of Conformity for my Yamaha Motorcycle, Scooter or Moped? |
|
|
From 17th June 2003, motorcycles must comply with European Whole Vehicle Type Approval (EWVTA) without which, they cannot simply be registered. If a Certificate of Conformity to EWVTA is not available, a machine would have to be subject to a Single Vehicle Approval examination before being registered.
Although it can be made available, a Certificate of Conformity will not normally be required to register in the UK, a machine imported by Yamaha Motor UK (incidentally, the approval number appears on the VIN Plate attached to the frame in the box directly under the words Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd). |

Q6: What is the warranty period for a Yamaha scooters and motorcycles? |
|
|
All new road legal (street-based) Yamaha scooters and motorcycles of 51cc and above come with the reassurance of a comprehensive, free warranty with unlimited mileage for a full two years. All new road legal Yamaha mopeds, scooters and motorcycles under 51cc have a one year warranty. For all off-road machines the warranty period is 6 months (parts only). |

Q7: Do I have to take my Yamaha product back to the selling dealer for warranty repairs? |
|
|
No - although perhaps advisable, any authorised Yamaha dealer for that particular model, is able to carry out warranty repairs. |

Q8: Is it possible to extend the factory supplied warranty on a Yamaha product? |

The duration of the warranty is fixed and we regret that no extension is currently available. |

Q9: How do I make a warranty claim? |
|
|
If you experience a problem with your Yamaha motorcycle/marine/power product which you believe should be dealt with under the terms of the manufacturer’s warranty, please promptly contact your Yamaha dealer to arrange for the motorcycle/marine/power product to be inspected and any claim assessed.
All claims under warranty must be submitted on your behalf through an authorised Yamaha dealer. We regret that we are unable to accept warranty claims directly from owners. |

Q10: What are the service intervals for Yamaha scooters & motorcycles? |
|
|
The current service intervals are as follows:
First Service (all models) - 600 miles/6 weeks (whichever comes sooner)
Models up to 125cc - every 4000 miles/*annual check
Models over 125cc - every 6000 miles/*annual check
(* The annual check must be performed every year, unless a mileage based service is performed instead) The above intervals relate to road going machines. For competition and off road machines, please refer to the Owner's Handbook. |
